The Center for Coalfield Justice
The Center for Coalfield Justice was formed in 1994 as the Tri-State Citizens Mining Network and reorganized in 2007. It serves the mission of improving policy and regulations for the oversight of fossil fuel extraction and use; to educate, empower and organize coalfield residents; and to protect public and environmental health. CCJ works with residents in Washington and Greene Counties to fight for coalfield communities through advocacy, education, and organizing. Its goal is to shift power from extractive industries and back to the people who love and care about the places they call home.
