From the Qatar World Cup to the LIV Golf Tour, international sports events play an important but increasingly controversial role in society and public image and reputation management. While sports hold a generally positive image, they can be used as a distraction or deflection from severe wrongdoings by states, organizations and institutions. This discussion will provide insight on sportswashing in our society, and how we can counteract it. Led by a Student Panel: Dinah Bailey, Sophomore W&J Gold team; Ange Dewicki, Sophomore W&J Golf team; Gannon Ryan, Sophomore W&J Soccer team.
This session Sportswashing is offered as one of five concurrent breakout sessions.
